Gills need to reach new heights in cup clash

Gillingham will have to be at their best to get past Stockport on Tuesday night - that's the verdict of midfielder Adam Miller.

The 26-year-old has one eye on a potential FA Cup Third Round clash against Aston Villa but knows the Gills will need to pull out all the stops in their Second Round Replay.

“Stockport are a good team and I thought they played well last week,” explained Miller.

“We’ve got to go into it with the same attitude as what we have been recently. Hopefully we can get the backing from the fans and get everyone behind us. I think we can get a good result up there.

“If we get through it is a massive tie. Aston Villa are a top team who are doing well in the Premier League. You always look to play at the best level you can and against the best players.

“They are a team which is full of internationals and players who have gone for millions in the transfer window. To put yourself up against them is a great opportunity.”

Gills boss Mark Stimson could name an unchanged side for the third successive game but Nicky Southall (cup tied) is not available.

With prize money and television fees on offer to the winner - plus a home game against Premier League opposition - the match could be worth around £250,000 to Gills if they can get through.
