Chatham manager Alex O'Brien admitted his side's opening day defeat to Godalming was a wake-up call

Alex O’Brien described Chatham’s opening day defeat at Godalming in Ryman League Division 1 South as a “massive wake-up” call for his side.

“It could be the best thing that happens to us,” said Chats manager O’Brien, pictured.

“It was a massive wake-up call. The players have been told how good they are by everyone but the biggest disappointment was the way we lost. We need to show fight and determination all the time and we didn’t do that.”

Chatham have an immediate chance to bounce back when they host Burgess Hill on Tuesday night, although O’Brien has injury concerns over forwards Justin Ascheri and Brendon Cass.
