The heartbroken family of a father-of-one who died in a crash say he lived life to the “fullest” and “made friends wherever he went”.

Motorbike-lover Gary Blake, 46, died following a collision in Richmond Road, Gillingham, on Friday, July 21.

Known as Blakey to his friends, he leaves behind his 24-year-old son who “he was so proud of”, his mum, his three sisters, nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and his girlfriend.

A window fitter by trade, his family said he loved motorbikes most of his life and competed in Speedway competitions when he was younger.

In a statement sent to KentOnline, his family said: “Gary had a massive heart and a passion for adventure.

“He was always up for a challenge and loved nothing more than going out exploring, spending time with his son, and fixing up cars and bikes.

“Gary loved his job as a window fitter, where his boss quickly became a great friend to him, sharing his love for adventure and motorbikes.

“He also had a love for animals, and was known for rescuing stray and neglected animals; even rescuing a litter of abandoned puppies while on holiday abroad with his son.

“Gary was always lively and happy, and made friends wherever he went.

“He could make anyone smile or laugh and he knew how to live every day to its fullest.

“He will leave a huge hole in all of our hearts, and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.”

Mr Blake died when his black Triumph motorbike was involved in a collision with a black Mercedes convertible at the junction of James Street and Richmond Road in Gillingham at around 2.15pm on Friday, July 21.
