Coronavirus Kent: Walderslade restaurant Taj Cuisine gives 100 meals to NHS staff at Medway Maritime Hospital

The Taj Cuisine in Walderslade has been delivering food to staff at Medway Maritime Hospital to show their appreciation for those working during the coronavirus pandemic.

Every Tuesday, for the last two weeks, staff at the Indian takeaway have prepared and delivered free hot meals to the NHS workers.

Due to the current lockdown, the restaurant is closed, but staff at Taj Cuisine felt the need to show their gratitude.

So Abul Monsur and his assistant chef Foysul Alom took it upon themselves to prepare 100 meals and deliver them to the staff at Medway Maritime Hospital.

The meals were received by Simon Clarke, head of retail, and fundraising officer Cheryl Jones.

The award-winning chef and proprietor of Taj Cuisine will also be delivering meals next Tuesday.

The owner's nephew, Joynal Abdin, said: "We delivered food to the hospital staff to demonstrate our support, appreciation and love for the NHS."
