Repairs to get Kingsnorth Power Station fully running after a fire at the weekend could take weeks.

The blaze on Saturday, January 2, at the Hoo site badly damaged an annexe building which houses the pump machinery for two of the four units which generate electricity at the station.

One wall of the structure, which has the machinery for unit two, was burnt and will need work done and parts replaced before the unit can start producing electricity again.

Unit one, which is also controlled from the same annexe, was expected to be up and running again in the middle of this week.

A spokesman for power station owners E.ON said: “The focus this week is to get unit one running."
