Man charged after two robberies in Gillingham

A man has appeared in court after two robberies in Gillingham last week.

Police say a man was walking along Franklin Road in the town at 9.20pm on Wednesday February 16, when he was approached by two other men.

The suspects are reported to have threatened the victim before stealing his mobile phone and walking away.

A short while later at around 10pm, a second victim was approached by two men while walking in Canterbury Street.

The men are reported to have threatened the victim before searching his pockets and stealing a quantity of cash.

Within 20 minutes of the second robbery officers searching the area arrested a suspect, although the second man has not yet been identified.

Kaizra Campbell, 19, of Autumn Way, West Drayton, Greater London, has been charged with two counts of robbery and also possession of cannabis.

Campbell appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Friday, February 18 where he was released on bail and is due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on March 17.
