A motorist had to be cut out of his car after crashing in the Medway Tunnel last night.

The young man was driving a red Vauxhall Astra VXR around 11pm when he crashed into the wall and became trapped in his car.

Firefighters from Medway and Strood were called to the scene and had to cut the roof of the car to rescue the driver.

A spokesman for the fire service said it was not known how the crash had happened.

The man, whose age is unknown, was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital with suspected neck injuries.
