Man attacked in Melbourne Road, Chatham left with head injuries

A man was found lying in the street with head injuries after an attack.

Police are investigating and pleading for witnesses to come forward following the incident in Chatham.

The victim, a man aged 47, was found in Melbourne Road at 11.22pm on Sunday, January 23.

He was taken to hospital and treated but has since been discharged, police said.

Investigating officers have launched and investigation and are carrying out several lines of inquiries.

But they now hope anyone who witnessed the attack and may have vital information can come forward.

Det Con Heather Walkden, said: "Despite carrying out enquiries we have been unable to ascertain if the victim was assaulted in Melbourne Road or in another location.

"We also do not know if he was assaulted by one person or a group of people so I’m urging anyone with information to get in touch with us as it will help progress our investigation."

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything or who may have mobile phone or dashcam footage.
