Medway Messenger reporters to take on the Three Peaks Challenge

Three mountains. Three journalists. Just 24 hours.

The Medway Messenger’s fearless reporting team are putting on their walking boots and getting ready to do the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of CPC Kent.

Jenni Horn, Keyan Milanian and Sarah Shaffi are among a group of people who will have to climb the three highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales in just one day for the charity.

The team will start at 6am on Saturday, May 8, with Ben Nevis in Scotland, move on to Scafell Pike in Cumbria and finish their journey at 5am on Sunday, May 9, at Snowdon in Wales.

The reporters need to raise £1,500 for CPC Kent, which will help children with cerebral palsy, and are asking all Medway Messenger readers to donate. The charity runs the Smiley Steps Centre in Cliffe, which has to raise £250,000 a year to keep going.

The centre is funded completely through voluntary donations and fundraising events like the Three Peaks Challenge.

Keyan said: “CPC Kent is a great charity and the more we learn about them the more we see how essential their work is.

“We wanted to do something to help them, and the Three Peaks Challenge is the perfect way to raise money and raise their profile.

“We’d like to ask all readers to please make a donation.”

The charity’s patron, Joe Pasquale, is supporting the Medway Messenger’s reporters in their quest. He said: “Make sure you take lots of corn plasters, Dr Scholl foot pads and foot salts, and plenty of sweets for energy. Thankfully, I’m working!

“I’d like to say thank you on behalf of CPC Kent, which is a wonderful charity.
