Three charged after attempted robbery in Canal Road, Strood

Three men have been charged in connection with an attempted robbery in Strood.

Marvin Joseph, 20, Mustapha Rahim, 21, both of no fixed address, and Malachi Oba, 18, of Dagmar Road, Chatham, appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court.

They were each charged with one count of attempted robbery.

The 18-year-old was also charged with possessing a sharp bladed article in a public place.

It follows an incident in which the victim was approached by three men in Canal Road, Strood, who allegedly threatened him with what appeared to be a knife.

They then demanded he hand over his belongings before they ran away empty handed.

It happened between 4.45am and 5.22am on August 17.

All three men were remanded in custody and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on September 15.
