Motorcyclist dies in Rainham crash

An off-duty police officer killed in a crash in Rainham on Friday morning has been named as Terry Easterby.

The 44-year-old motorcyclist was a serving police Sergeant at Medway police station. He suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The crash, at the junction of London Road and Bloors Lane, happened at about 7.40am.

It involved three vehicles - two cars and Mr Easterby's motorbike. Another man suffered minor injuries.

A spokesman confirmed it was a Medway police officer that had been killed while off-duty.

A number of ambulance crews, police and fire crews were on the scene near Playfootball, a five-a-side football centre.

The Kent Air Ambulance was on its way to the scene, but was later stood.

Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit is appealing for witnesses.
