He appeared via prison video link at Maidstone Crown Court after being charged with murdering 44-year-old James Webb.

The brief hearing had to be switched to another court room after problems with the video link.

After a series of unsuccessful attempts, a prison officer appeared and held a note to the screen which read: "I can see you but I can't hear".

Judge Adele Williams then switched courts and Harris, of Stanway Close, Chigwell, appeared to formerly identify himself.

He is expected to plead not guilty and claim self-defence during the trial. Mr Webb died as a result of stab wounds.
