Police in nine-hour standoff with man on roof in Gillingham

Emergency services were on the scene for nine hours after a man climbed onto a roof in Gillingham.

Police were called at 5.05pm yesterday to an address in Marlborough Road, following reports of concern for the man's welfare.

Firefighters and ambulance crews were also at the scene, and the road was closed while officers spoke to the man.

He came down from the roof at around 2.30am this morning and was taken to hospital for medical attention.
