Medway: M2 motorway closed by crash involving car and overturned lorry

Part of the M2 has reopened after it was closed following a crash involving a car and a lorry that has overturned.

The collision happened on the coastbound carriageway at the Medway Services near Gillingham just before 1am.

The HGV ended up on the central reservation between Junctions 4 and 5 and damaged around 40 metres of the barrier.

Traffic was being diverted through the Medway Services while recovery work took place.

One lane of the London bound carriageway was also closed but reopened at around 6am.

Kent Police were to the accident at 12.46am.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service were also in attendance but no serious injuries were reported.

The motorway reopened shortly before 7.30am.
