Pedestrian hurt after being hit by a car in Priestfields, Rochester

A woman was taken to hospital after an accident involving a car in Rochester this morning.

Paramedics treated the pedestrian for a head injury at the scene of the collision in Priestfields.

It happened at about 7.25am and the road was partially blocked as emergency crews dealt with the incident.

The woman remained conscious and her injuries are not thought to be serious.

She was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for tests and checks.

It's understood residents came out with blankets and comforted her before an ambulance crew arrived.

Police spokesman Andy Saunders said:"The driver of the car stopped following the collision."
