Renewed concern for elderly woman Erika Lewis who wandered Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre asking for help

There is renewed concern for an elderly woman after she wandered around a shopping centre asking for help.

Erika Lewis was reported missing less than a week ago but was quickly found.

This morning the 88-year-old made her way to security at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre and ran into marketing manager Su Button who said: “She was asking for help and is obviously a vulnerable elderly lady.

“I just want to make sure she gets to the right people. I know if it was my own Nan, you’d hope there would be somebody who cared and would look out for her.”

Police were called to the centre to help Ms Lewis, from Blowers Wood Grove, Hempstead.

On Saturday police issued a statement because they were concerned over the welfare of Ms Lewis.

She was originally reported missing at 9.20pm on January 10 and officers believed she was driving a silver VW Polo towards London via the A2.

The next day they revealed she had been found safe.

Su added: “She was immaculately dressed and had her hair and make up done. None of the staff here have seen her wandering around the centre before.”
