Crash at Maidstone Road in Chatham

Emergency services were called to the scene of a crash in Chatham this morning.

Maidstone Road was closed and traffic was diverted until just after 8am while police dealt with the incident.

The crash happened at the junction of Maidstone Road and The Ridgeway.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 6.40am and said both drivers, were out of their vehicles when they arrived.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service, said a crew from the nearby Rochester Fire Station were called out to deal with the incident.

The cars which collided were a white Mini Cooper and a black Peugeot and one man has been taken to hospital as a precaution suffering from neck pain.

The spokesman added: "Both men were given first aid and then placed into the care of the paramedics.

"We made the scene safe.

A police spokesman said earlier: "Kent Police was called at 6.30am following a two-car collision on Maidstone Road, Chatham.

"Officers are in attendance and the road remains blocked, although a recovery vehicle is currently at the scene.

"One man has been taken to hospital with a neck injury."
