Medway celebrated the marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton with a host of street parties and school events.

A 21-gun salute was fired at Fort Amherst to mark the moment the royal couple tied the knot at Westminster Abbey.

Hundreds of people from the Towns took coaches and trains up to the capital to watch the special day at first hand.

Meanwhile, shops and pubs displayed Union Flags and bunting around Medway while neighbours celebrated with seven official street parties and plenty of impromptu patriotic fun elsewhere.

For full coverage of the day's events see next week's Medway Messenger out on Monday and Friday.
