Burglars steal safe containing jewellery after breaking into Gillingham home

Burglars smashed windows to get into a house before stealing a safe containing jewellery.

The incident is reported to have happened in Hempstead Road, Gillingham, between 9am on Thursday December 13 and 3.30pm on Tuesday December 18, while the owners of the house were away.

The suspects are believed to have gained entry by smashing the kitchen windows before carrying out an untidy search of the house.

Two external lights were also removed from the wall.

Officers believe the suspects may have used a locked side gate to enter the back of the property before breaking inside.

Police would like to appeal to anyone who believes they saw anything suspicious in the area, and residents with CCTV who have not yet spoken to Kent Police are also asked to get in touch.
