There is still chance to nominate people for the Pride in Medway Awards 2024.

The awards, which celebrate the achievements of people who live or work in the Medway Towns, are now in their 22nd year.

Categories for this year's celebrations include Young Heroes, Courage, Volunteer, Community Service, Good Care, Charity Fundraiser, Green Champion, Health and Wellbeing, and Sports Coach of the Year.

This final award is named in memory of Medway Messenger news editor Sarah Clarke, honouring her passion for sport and her proud role in making the Pride in Medway awards happen.

Matt Ramsden, Senior Editor of the Medway Messenger, said: “Out of all the events the Medway Messenger supports, the Pride in Medway Awards remains one of our favourites.

“We know from our daily dealings that there are hundreds if not thousands of people out there who give their time, efforts and resources to help others.

“The awards play the most important role of shining a light on the work these unsung heroes do – and we look forward to hearing more amazing stories this year.”

The headline sponsor for Pride in Medway 2024 is Medway Council which is also sponsoring the Young Heroes Award.

This year’s category sponsors include: National Grid (Volunteer of the Year) Uniper (Community Service), Mhs Homes (Health and Wellbeing) Bridgewood Manor (Good Care) Locate in Kent (Charity Fundraiser), A C Goatham (Courage) and Mid Kent College (Green Champion).

Among those recognised at last year’s event were Ellie Aldridge and Hayley Faye Rheins from DizAbility Dance Company, an inclusive group for children and adults with disability.

Also among the award winners were Neil and Tracy Charlick from Gillingham Street Angels and the Great Lines Park Run.

Last year's ceremony culminated in Medway Help for Ukrainians being named as the overall winner of Pride in Medway 2023 in tribute to providing sanctuary to people fleeing war.
