A man has been jailed for two weeks after breaching an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) - just one day after it was imposed.

Steven Michael Brierley, 36, of no fixed abode, was given the ASBO at Medway Magistrates Court with conditions not to be in a drunken state, consuming alcohol in public and entering certain parts of Chatham town centre.

It followed a number of complaints about Brierley's drunken behaviour including begging, urinating and defecating in the town centre.

He was arrested in High Street, Chatham, on Saturday afternoon, where officers found him drunk and consuming alcohol in a public place. He was charged with breaching his ASBO.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court today (Tuesday) where he was sentenced to two weeks imprisonment.
