The following day a purse was stolen from a Kia parked in Woodlands Road, Gillingham; and a bank card from the purse was allegedly used later in a attempt to purchase items from Tesco in Sturdee Avenue.

Officers examined CCTV footage near the crime scenes and arrested a teenage boy from Gillingham on Monday April 25.

The 17-year-old was later charged with the two thefts and the fraud offence.

Investigators also charged the suspect with a further theft and four frauds committed in the Gillingham area.

He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday April 27 where he was bailed to return to Medway Youth Court on May 9.
