Ternent keen on more signings

GILLINGHAM manager Stan Ternent has admitted he is still looking to strengthen the squad ahead of the transfer deadline on Thursday.

Ternent has signed Mike Flynn from Wigan Athletic and has taken Jay McEveley and Jonathan Douglas on loan from Premiership side Blackburn Rovers.

All three have made a difference to the team as the Gills have enjoyed a run of five matches unbeaten to climb out of the relegation zone.

Ternent would like to extend the month-long deals of the Blackburn duo but admits the decision rests in Rovers boss Mark Hughes' hands.

Ternent said: "We still want to strengthen the team before the last seven games.

"As for McEveley and Douglas, if Mark Hughes would be kind enough to let them stay till the end of the season we would be delighted. It will all depend on Blackburn’s own situation."
