Tragedy at Tesco in Gillingham

A man has died after suffering a sudden heart attack in a Tesco store in Gillingham.

The man, believed to be in his 40 was shopping around 12pm when it happened.

Police and the ambulance service attended the store on Courtney Road, Gillingham, and cordoned off the isle.

One woman who did not want to be named said: "All the aisle was closed down at both ends with crates like a screen. There were two ambulances and three police cars outside around 2.45pm."

A spokesman for Kent Police added: "A relatively young man in his 40s died in the store after having a heart attack.

"We don’t believe there are any suspicious circumstances to the death but we are looking into the situation."

Police and ambulances left the scene around 3pm.
