Medway-based Stage Theatre Society records charity song for NHS Charities Together

Young actors who have had to put their rehearsals on hold have got their chops round the challenge of recording a charity song.

Medway theatre group The Stage Theatre Society recorded a cover of the song Beautiful City from the musical Godspell to raise money for NHS Charities Together.

The actors had been planning on staging their production of Oliver! at the end of March but this has been pushed back to July with cast members rehearsing from home.

Current and past members and their families recorded the song virtually which was produced over the Easter weekend.

The group is asking for donations to a JustGiving page, which has so far raised more than £2,800.

Richard Hillier, co-founder of the group, said: “I could not be more proud of the STS community for coming together and creating this piece.

“It is really quite special, and for such a worthy cause supporting those that are at risk on a daily basis on the frontline.
