Chiness striker Ying Ming Ye has returned to his homeland after failing to make an impact at Gillingham.

The player, known as Alan during his short spell at the club, was introduced to Priestfield by contacts of chairman Paul Scally.

The Gills will now give a trial to an unnamed Canadian player who was brought to the club’s attention by striker Simeon Jackson.

He could feature in Wednesday’s reserve game against Southampton – subject to international clearance.

The Football Combination League match kicks off at 2pm at Priestfield with the club’s youngsters also keen to impress.

"I’m sure some of the young boys will be given a chance," said Gills assistant manager Scott Barrett. "We have a good bunch coming through the ranks."

"I’m sure after Saturday’s result there will be a few agents wanting their players to come down and have a trial so we’ll just have to wait and see."
