Bidders at a charity art auction could end up with a painting by top artist Graham Clarke – or one by a child.

Mr Clarke is among painters who have agreed to donate a piece for the unique event on Saturday, June 7, at The Caldecott Foundation, Smeeth.

Following a champagne reception and dinner, auctioneer Clive Emson will invite guests to bid on exclusively donated artwork.

Successful bids might win a picture from a top artist or a painting produced by one of the youngsters at Caldecott, which cares for children who have suffered neglect and mistreatment.

Other professional artists who have agreed to donate a picture include Robert Tilleard, Melissa Sadie Wright, Joel Arnstein and Teresa Lawton.

Their pictures will hang alongside those created by Caldecott children.

The charity’s chief fund-raiser Samantha Scott said: “This is a brilliant and unusual way to raise funds, with the added excitement and fun that when guests bid in the auction, they might not recognise who has painted the picture they’re going to be taking home.”

A limited number of tickets for the event, including the champagne reception and dinner, are on sale at £75 each by emailing Samantha.scott@caldecottfoundation.co.uk or by writing to her at The Caldecott Foundation, Hythe Road, Smeeth, TN25 6SP.
