But cyclists taking part in Sunday’s challenge event can rest assured that if they do experience any bumps or scrapes while completing the course, prompt and expert support will be available courtesy of first-aid specialist SE Medical.

Event coordinator Hannah Hawksworth said: “Significant accidents or injuries are extremely unlikely on Sunday, but we want everyone taking part in the KM Big Bike Ride to have an enjoyable, stress-free day.

“And as part of that, we will have experienced first-aiders on hand from SE Medical to cope with any bumps, scrapes or ailments any riders might experience.

“The SE Medical team are experts in providing event medical cover, and it’s fantastic to have them involved.”

The challenge starts and finishes at Betteshanger Park near Deal, with registration remaining open right up until 10am on Sunday.

The ride costs £30 per person, and you can still take advantage of a £5 discount when booking online with the code KMNews19 or pay the full price at the venue on the day.

Besides SE Medical, the challenge is supported by key partner Vattenfall and Benenden Hospital Trust, Whitstable bike shop Herberts Cycles will provide mechanical support on Sunday, and the Southern Co-operative are supplying snacks and refreshments at two drinks stops on the routes to help maintain riders’ energy levels.

While people don’t have to do the ride for charity, anyone who raises at least £200 for a good cause will go into a draw to win a pair of Eurostar tickets. Seventy per cent of sponsorship money will go to the participants’ chosen charities, with the rest helping to fund the KM Charity Team’s child road-safety work in Kent.
