Scarecrows brave rain for charity

It takes more than a bit - or a lot - of rain to deter the average scarecrow.

They were out in all their finery in Chartham at the weekend for a trail which raised nearly £500 for the village branch of the League of Friends of Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

Scarecrows were placed outside 25 houses around the village, including parts of Shalmsford Street.

“It was very wet but quite a few stuck it out and I thank them very much,” said organiser Jan Clover.
