How to stay cool on moving day

MOVING home can be quick and simple, according to Bryant Homes which has enlisted the help of media doctor and family GP Dr Rob Hicks on how to stay cool, calm and collected.

Bryant has asked Dr Hicks for six stress-free tips to make your move a smooth one, and backed them up with concrete help to take the snags out of the buying process - including help with mortgages. Dr Hicks said by practising simple tips it was possible to keep stress under control.

Bryant Homes has teamed up with independent mortgage adviser Clear Cut Mortgages. It has access to more than 100 lenders and over 7,500 mortgages so homeowners no longer need to trawl the high street for the best deal. It is also offering some attractive deals exclusive to Bryant customers.

Dr Hick’s tips for a stress-free move:

* Exercise - it reduces stress and clears your mind.

* Don’t be tempted to smoke more. You could actually increase anxiety and stress.

* Get to bed. This is the place to forget about moving house and get some rest.

* Preparation is key to success, so prioritise what you have to do.

* Be realistic - your daily schedule should enable you to complete your tasks and have time to yourself afterwards. Moving takes time - do not try to do it all in one day.

* Take regular breaks on the days just prior to the move. Rest when you feel like it; read a book or chat to a friend, but no calls to estate agents.
