Poll praise for property developer

RESULTS from the second National Customer Satisfaction Survey of the UK’s top house builders have again shown Redrow Homes to be one of the country’s leading property developers.

The survey, undertaken by the Housing Forum on behalf of the DETR, awarded Redrow the top rating of three stars for more than 95 per cent of the company’s customers stating that they would recommend Redrow as a house builder to others - well above the industry average.

The poll results are calculated from a telephone survey, with a representative sample of 10,015 owners of newly built homes selected from databases supplied by the New Homes Building Council and Zurich.

Chris Roads, sales director, commented: “These are very important awards as they are based on feedback direct from customers. We have done very well overall, but there is no greater endorsement for our product and customer care than such an overwhelming percentage of purchasers saying that they would be happy to recommend us as a company.

“People are clearly pleased with their experience of buying Redrow,” he said.

A STUDY prepared for Lane Fox has revealed that over the period 1996 to 2001, investment in UK residential property for housing held as an investment and as owner-occupier offered resoundingly better returns than other investment media.

The study, by Dr John Wrigglesworth, shows that alternative media considered were savings accounts (23.9 per cent return), the UK stock market (17.4 per cent return), wine (15.7 per cent return), art (6.5 per cent return) and gold (-21.5 per cent return).

The gain was even more spectacular for the investor in London, with returns on housing almost doubling the original investment (96.1 per cent) over the five-year period, thanks to a combination of capital appreciation of the asset and projected rental yield.

The questionnaire covered 11 elements of the home buying process such as first impressions, helpfulness of staff, help and advice during purchase, meeting build deadlines and the condition of the home on move-in day.

Mike Stansfield, David Wilson Homes’ chief executive, said: “The award is a reflection of the quality and service provided by our sales and construction teams.”
