Summer's the time for quick sale

WITH signs of increased confidence in the housing market, Connells is advising people to take advantage of sunny days and long nights to sell their property.

Alan Gottschalk, Connells regional director, said: “This is an excellent time to sell as we have found that people looking to buy in the summer months are usually serious buyers willing to make a decision quickly.”

THE Wilson Connolly St Augustine’s development at Chartham, near Canterbury, has been selling so well the decision has been taken to make a further release of homes ahead of schedule.

Caron Hutchins, sales manager, said: “It does mean when certain house styles are sold they will not be available for purchase at this superb location. At present we can offer two-bedroom apartments and four- bedroom townhouses so there is plenty of choice.”

A picturesque courtyard setting offers views of the cricket pitch and the North Downs and purchasers at St Augustine’s can have use of an on-site gymnasium.

The sales centre is open daily from 10am to 5.30pm or phone 01227 732599 for further details.

The National Association of Estate Agents supports the select committee’s report on the proposed Housing Bill, in particular its calls for further research into Home Information Packs.

The committee supports the NAEA’s views that there is no indication that HIPs will actually speed up the buying process as the buyer and seller are not able to exchange contracts any sooner than the current system.

The report also supported the NAEA’s long-standing campaign for the licensing of estate agents, as a way of increasing professional standards on the high street.

New homes’ sales rates remain steady despite recent reports of a slowdown in the market, according to the East Kent division of RPC Land & New Homes.

The department has exceeded its targets for the first part of the year.

Mary-Anne Strable, area sales manager for RPC, said: “We are continuing to see a steady rate of sales.

“However, some developers are now offering incentives such as part exchange, stamp duty paid or help with the deposit, which is good news whether you’re moving up the property ladder or setting out to buy your first home.”
