Kent-based residential developer Pentland Homes has gifted land to enable a much-needed car park extension at The Romney Marsh Community Hub - a charity providing health and wellbeing for local people - located adjacent to its Mulberry Place development in New Romney.

The car park will be increased in size to accommodate 22 spaces for the charity and its users, after Pentland Homes transferred an area of unused land from Mulberry Place. Pentland Homes will also undertake the construction works to complete the car park extension at no cost.

Paul Kitchingman, Managing Director at Pentland Homes, said: “We are thrilled to be able to support the Romney Marsh Community Hub. This charity offers vital outreach support services to residents aged 50 plus across both New Romney and the wider Romney Marsh community, helping support the mental health and wellbeing of many vulnerable and isolated individuals.

“As a local developer we understand the importance of giving back to the communities in which we operate and are always looking for initiatives to help support charitable interests in a way that provides long term meaningful benefits. Helping charities such as The Romney Marsh Community Hub with improvements to their existing infrastructure will enable them to keep delivering their important services for many years to come.

“Pentland Homes is incredibly proud of our links with our local communities across Kent and we look forward to supporting more local charitable initiatives as we launch a number of new developments in the County throughout 2023.”

District Councillor Patricia Rolfe comments: "I am delighted to have provided the initial link between Pentland Homes and the Community Hub and to have supported this generous offer by Pentland Homes to gift land to extend the parking for this important community amenity. This will benefit the many users of the hub as well as residents living in its vicinity. A fine example of a housing developer improving the local infrastructure."
