Passengers stranded as train splits in two

Around 500 rail passengers bound for Kent were trapped in a tunnel when a busy service from London split in two.

The front five carriages of the 5.45pm Victoria to Rochester train went into Penge tunnel on Wednesday, while the rear five were left at Sydenham Hill station.

Passengers were stranded for around 90 minutes, although no one was hurt in the incident.

Southeastern says it will be investigating.
