Police say no one was injured in the blaze – which also torched an old lorry cab – but officers are currently treating the fire as suspicious.

A resident in New Romney told KentOnline the motorhome has been abandoned since 2020.

Full planning permission was sought for two mobile homes and two touring caravans to be situated on the land in Station Approach.

The application was submitted at the end of 2021 and validated in March this year, but a decision is yet to be made.

The homes would be used by a single travelling gypsy family, according to the application.
