Teen charged with attempted rape appears in court after woman assaulted in Greatstone

A teenager has been charged with attempted rape after a woman was assaulted in woodland.

The victim had been walking along a footpath at the end of Dunes Road, Greatstone, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm on Saturday when she was assaulted by a man she did not know.

She ran from the scene and the police were alerted.

She later attended hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation, Jack Usher has been charged with attempted rape.

The 18-year-old, of Marsh Crescent, New Romney, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates' Court today and was remanded in custody.

He will appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday, June 19.
