Beach huts being built along Sheppey’s seafront have attracted positive feedback.

Last month we reported how things had moved forward following the formation of a group to lead the project on behalf of Swale council.

Ten members of Minster Beach Hut Association (MBHA) have all invested £3,000 to each have one of the structures, and the council is also installing three of them.

All 13 bases have now gone in along The Leas, and manufacturer Quinneys has almost completed the first two, with work progressing on the others.

The council will be running a two-year pilot project to allow it to collate feedback from the public and occupiers and decide the best way forward.

It is hoped the scheme will eventually be offered to others.

Mark Whitton, from the MBHA, said they have had more than 30 people get in touch wanting to learn more about the scheme and have only had one negative reaction.

They now plan to put signs up with contact details for any visitors who wish to find out about the project.

Mr Whitton, 47, said: “It’s going really well and is getting good feedback. We hope it will get rolled out.”
