THE Lighthouse Coffee Shop has been presented with a mural by the Crawford Centre.

A painting done by members of the woodwork group at the Crawford Centre was unveiled at the coffee shop in the Hope Street Centre in Sheerness on Wednesday May 7.

Lighthouse Coffee Shop runs in partnership with the Crawford Centre, providing training for people with learning disabilities.

Coffee shop manager, Nina Clancy, said: “I requested a picture of a lighthouse for our wall and I asked the Crawford Centre if they would design and make it.

I’m very pleased with it.”

The Lighthouse Coffee Shop trains people from the Crawford Centre with customer service, food hygiene, till work and general catering skills.

They are coming up for their first anniversary at the coffee shop.

Nikkie Allen, who co–runs the woodwork group, said: “They absolutely loved making the picture, and they like being involved.

We work in partnership with the coffee shop and they feel part of it so they wanted to put their mark on it.

It shows the public they can get involved in things like this.”
