Fisherman lands a whopper

A fisherman got the shock of his life when he caught a Second World War aerial mine in his net off the Kent coast.

The Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Team was sent to the Isle of Sheppey to meet with the coastguard.

Once the morning fog had cleared, a four man team was sent out to meet the fisherman.

They towed the mine out to sea off Warden Point and carried out a controlled explosion.

There was a plume of water 200-feet high and the explosion could be heard on the eastern end of the Island.
