A young woman is flying high in the normally male–orientated world of air cadets.

Jenna Wanstall, 21, is an ex–member of the 2316 (Sheppey) Squadron. She had to leave once she passed the corp’s upper age limit.

But she has returned as a civilian instructor due to the increasing number of new air cadets joining the corps.

She said: “Cadets is enjoyable. As a cadet, I took part in as many different opportunities as I could. After cadets I went on to join other organisations like the St John Ambulance but I wished to come back and teach First Aid. I also have responsibility for organising flying and gliding which the cadets love and sometimes I get to go too.”

Jenna was recently the only girl who went flying in a Griffin helicopter.
