Crash in Marine Parade, Sheerness, between VW Golf and pedestrian kills man in 20s

A man has died after being hit by a car.

A black VW golf and a pedestrian who was in his 20s were involved in a collision in Marine Parade in Sheerness near the entrance to Barton’s Point Coastal Park at around 6.48pm yesterday (January17).

Emergency services attended and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “I can confirm that ambulance crews attended the scene and were joined at the scene by Air Ambulance Charity Kent, Surrey, Sussex.

“Sadly, despite the efforts of all involved, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the incident to get in touch.

The 40mph stretch of road is a hotspot for accidents with this week being the fifth anniversary of another fatal collision where an elderly woman was killed after a head-on collision between an Age UK minibus and a car.

She was one of four women who were rushed to Medway Maritime hospital but died overnight after suffering a heart attack.
