Police warning after theft on beach

POLICE are advising people to be vigilant following the theft of a mobile phone on a Kent beach.

The phone, valued at about £150, was stolen from the bag of a 40-year old man as he played with his child on the beach in Beach Road, Sheerness, between 6pm and 6.30pm on Tuesday, June 20.

Police are encouraging people to not leave their valuables unattended, especially on the beach, which could be a target area for thieves during the hot weather.

Spokeswoman Sally Smith said: "It is vital that those visiting the beach do not make themselves easy targets, particularly parents who may appear distracted as they play with their children.

"In an attempt to prevent such crimes police are urging people to carry mobile phones and other valuables with them at all times."
