Eastchurch Gardening Society's spring show held at Eastchurch viallge hall in Warden Road

A colourful range of plants, vegetables and flowers were on display at Eastchurch Gardening Society’s spring show on Saturday.

It was held at the village hall in Warden Road where about 50 visitors turned up to view an impressive array of exhibits.

Seven children joined more seasoned entrants and a total of 29 rosettes were presented to winners.

The contest’s overall victor was Alf Sindry (61 points); Erica Smith (57 points) was runner-up, and Val Hayes (21 points) finished third.

In the chairman’s daffodils in a pot category, Michael and Margaret Stevens came first and second, with Jennifer Newell coming in third.

Malcolm Newell, the society’s chairman, said: “It was an absolutely wonderful show.

“Entries were a bit down on last year, but we expected that because of the weather.

“Thank you to everyone who took part and for the donation of Easter eggs as prizes.”
