The Sheppey Crossing was closed in one direction this afternoon due to two broken down lorries.
There are long tailbacks along the the Island-bound carriageway of the A249, between the Grovehurst Road and Iwade junctions.
Police were called to the scene at 2.43pm and the bridge remains shut so the vehicles can be recovered.
Traffic is being diverted via the Kingsferry Bridge.
There were heavy downpours in the area earlier today.
