Star wrestlers from Phoenix Promotions return to The Sheppey Show this weekend

Roll up for one of the highlights of the Island calendar this Saturday.

It’s the Sheppey Show which will be held from 10am–4pm in Broadway, Sheerness.

Back by popular request will be Phoenix Promotions which will return with four star wrestlers for three live bouts.

Promoter Brian Manelli said: “It will be great to be back in Sheerness. We last performed at the Sheppey Show in 2004 but have always been too busy to return. It is always such a good atmosphere.”

He has yet to confirm the line–up for the event on Saturday but it is expected 22–stone man–mountain Pitbull Johnson from Blackpool will be back in the ring. There will be two star bouts climaxing with a four–man tag match at the end of the afternoon.

Other highlights include live music from The Hoochies, Sheppey singer Mick Kenton and Them Again; traditional seaside Punch and Judy shows by Myles Phillips from Faversham; comedy from Charlie the Clown; street theatre from the Ice Duo and Swank – two make–up girls giving weird facials - plus there will be children’s games and prizes from DJ J R King with help from the Sheppey Pirates.

The pirates will be in town preparing for the World Walking the Plank championships the following day, Sunday, August 3, at Queenborough Harbour.

Leader Captain Cutlass said: “We will be looking for any suitable boys and girls to train to become pirates. Perhaps they have some mums and dads they would like to nominate to walk the plank?”

The Sheppey Show, organised by Swale Borough Council, will be by the clock tower in Sheerness and there will be plenty of stalls for shoppers.
