A number of school records were shattered as the day progressed: Kara Aaron (Brabazon) for the 200m in 36.02secs, while Hannah Foster and Chanelle Lambkin (both Harty) set a new high jump best (1.30m).

James Smith, the academy’s head of department, said: "Sports day is always one of the top events in the academy calendar and it was great to see so many pupils taking part this year.

“Thanks must go to our sixth formers, staff and PE department for the diligent planning and hard work before, during and after the event.”
