Minster's lead at the top of the Kent Cricket League Premier Division table cut as they lose to Sandwich Town while Hayes, Sevenoaks Vine, Bexley and Lordswood win

Minster remain top of the Kent League Premier Division despite a Zack Fagg century on Saturday helping lead Sandwich to victory against them.

Opener Fagg struck a 73-ball 102 in the away team’s 314-9 from their 50 overs while Australian overseas David Grant (59) and Matthew Frewin (44) chipped in with quick-fire knocks.

Kai Appleby was best with the ball for Minster as he finished with 3-29.

Chris Piesley top-scored for the hosts in reply at Gilbert Hall, with 45 not out from 30 balls, while there were also contributions from skipper Ed Moore (44) and Joseph Parry (40) but Minster were dismissed for 239 in the 45th over.

Harry Bee (3-41) and Jan Gray (3-52) picked up three wickets apiece for Sandwich to cut Minster’s lead at the summit to only a point.

Second-placed Hayes beat Tunbridge Wells, who are fourth, by three wickets, largely thanks to wicketkeeper Gareth Severin’s ton.

With Tunbridge Wells batting first, captain Christopher Williams top-scored with a 47-ball 63 for the hosts in their 183 all out while Andrew Eddicott (3-52) was the best of Hayes’ bowlers.

Opener Severin led the reply with 106 at The Nevill Ground as the away team got over the line in the 49th over.

Sevenoaks Vine earned an 81-run win against basement boys Beckenham.

Beckenham won the toss and Alex Senn asked Vine to bat first.

Their innings began against Junaid Nadir and Harri Aravinthan, and Aravinthan struck first when Nick Rigg took a superb catch to dismiss Evert Bekker for five.

Nadir got in on the act shortly afterwards when he trapped Chris Vernon in front to make it a good start for the visitors, with Sevenoaks 21-2.

A promising stand was then ended on 29 when Nadir, having replaced the out-of-sorts Ishan Sabharwal, broke through, bowling Harry Houillon for 13.

That was the last Beckenham wicket for some time, though, as the ominously in-form Vine skipper Luke Schlemmer - with two Premier Division hundreds already this summer - joined forces with Michael Cowdrey.

And Cowdrey (95) and captain Schlemmer (111) helped lead Sevenoaks to 285-6 from 50 overs. Nadir returned best figures of 3-53 for Beckenham.

With an excellent track to bat on, the burning question was could Beckenham’s batting finally fire for once? The answer, unfortunately for them, was no.

James Fear top-scored with 70, and there were contributions from Aravinthan (42) and Ross Piller (38), but Beckenham were dismissed for 204 in the 43rd over and are well adrift at the foot of the table.

Lorne Burns returned impressive figures of 6-31 for Sevenoaks Vine.

Joe Gordon’s inspired display helped guide Lordswood to a 39-run success at Bickley Park.

Batting first, Gordon finished 102 not out in the away team’s 217-5 while Michael French (45) chipped in.

Daniel Magin (2-33) and Elliot Hooper (2-41) collected two wickets each for Bickley Park.

In reply, the hosts were 48-5 before Krishna Padmanabhan’s 45, captain Magin (43) and Sebastian Naylor (41) offered some resistance, but Bickley Park were 178 all out in the 45th over.

There were three wickets apiece for opening bowler Touseeq Shah (3-24) and Gordon (3-27).

Bexley beat third-placed Blackheath by four wickets.

Batting first, opener Dipayan Paul and wicketkeeper Ross Richardson both scored 69 apiece for Blackheath who posted 192 all out in the 50th over, Bexley opening bowlers Ed Nuttall (4-33) and Adam Ball (3-45) doing most of the damage.

Opener Aiden Griggs led the reply with 52 while former Kent all-rounder Ball was unbeaten on 38 as they won in the 41st over.
