DETECTIVES have released an e-fit image of a man who threatened a woman with a chisel and then stole her Rover car.

The incident happened in a lay-by opposite the Co-op Chemist in East Street, Sittingbourne, at around 5.30pm on Thursday September 27.

The owner of a dark grey Rover 416, registration V304 HEG, was sitting in her car when a white male in his early 20s opened the passenger door and got into the vehicle.

He then demanded she hand over the keys and threatened her with the chisel. Following a struggle, the car owner of the car managed to escape and the man drove off in the direction of Sittingbourne.

The victim, aged 68, sustained injuries to her hand during the robbery.

The robber is described as being of medium build, with short, dark wavy hair and a clear complexion. He was wearing a dark coloured jacket.

Since the robbery, the vehicle has been seen in Canterbury and Beltinge near Herne Bay.
