Driver cut free from smash wreckage

A man with suspected spinal injuires had to be cut free from his car after it went out of control in a Kent town.

Firefighters used hydraulic equipment to remove the roof of a Peugeot 306 after the crash in Bell Road, Sittingbourne just before 3.30am Saturday.

The victim was taken out of the vehicle on a spinal board.

He was taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham but the extent of his injuries are not yet known.
