The borough’s only all-ladies football club achieved their goal of attracting new members at a fun day.

Seven potential players for Swale Ladies' FC were among those at the free event at Sittingbourne Community College.

The fun day included training sessions, 5-a-side, beat the goalie and a game which tested footballers’ shooting skills.

Club chairman Gary Bareham, who thanked Tesco for providing the refreshments, said: “We were trying to encourage more girls to join and help develop the under 10s and 11s.

“Although the weather was against us it was great that people still turned up.”

Swale Ladies were set up in 2010 and are just about to start their third season in the Kent Girls' and Ladies' Football League.

There are eight teams, covering every age group, apart from under 11s, from under 10s through to a ladies’ senior team and they play their matches at Sittingbourne Community College on Sundays.

Anyone interested in joining should visit www.swaleladiesfc.co.uk. Alternatively, send an email to swale.ladies@hotmail.co.uk
